Top Lipsticks For The Holidays

Happy Monday, y’all! Today’s post is going to be my favorite lips products to wear during the holidays and I’ve also included swatches so let’s get into the products!

Liquid – Matte Lipsticks

Smashbox in Bawse  This color is a good shade of red for olive/medium toned skin and it’s also done with one of my favorite YouTubers Lilly Singh so that’s awesome, too, but this color is truly beautiful and a red I definitely did not have in my collection before and it’s not too drying for me.

NYX Liquid Suede in Cherry Skies I’ve been using these for years now and I love them! They fulfill my love for a good dark lip during the holidays especially if you want to not wear a classic red this time around. Very pigmented and dries quickly too so you won’t have to wait forever for it to dry like other kinds of liquid lipsticks.

NYX Liquid Suede in Venom  Again another suede color and this one is a very dark plum color and it’s very nice, it can be a bit streaky, but it can be fixed easily with a light hand and not so much product on the wand.

Maybelline Color Blur in 35 Plum, Please This one is a creamy matte plum shade and it’s very easy to apply and blendable without much streakiness which is always good and it’s also easy to take off which is great for when you don’t want to struggle with stubborn lipsticks.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Exorcism  This is a very dark burgundy plum wine color and this one does take a while to dry, but nothing too crazy like about a minute or less. One of my many favorites, for sure.

Left side is away from window/sum and right side is with direct sunlight

Smashbox in Femme Fatale  This one is a darker magenta color and in normal room lighting it’s a very dark color, but it the sunlight it’s a beautiful magenta color and I love how much a difference it can make too. This product also doesn’t need a lot of strokes to manage a bold opaque lip which I personally love because I don’t like wasting product, haha.

Urban Decay in Venom This one is a creamy lipstick and it’s similar to the one above, but I feel this one is a tad bit darker (what do you think, yes or no?) and just like the other one it’s a beautiful shade and not a lot of product is needed.

Nars in Cruella  So this is one I completely forgot about, to be completely honest, so when I found it I was pretty excited because one it’s Nars and two because it’s a matte red which I’ve come to find out that I have very few of them in my collection, haha. It’s matte, but it’s buildable and blendable and easy to remove which are a must in my book.

NYX Full Throttle in Con Artist  This one gives off a brownish-burgundy tint at first, but once you see it in light it’s a crisp burnt orange-red shade and this may not seem very holiday-like I would still wear this over the holidays, it’s a nice rare shade.

NYX Full Throttle in Locked  Like the other two, this is a magenta color, but it’s a matte version of the two and I love how easy it is to blend and how affordable it is, too. I definitely see myself wearing this in the holiday season again this year.

So these were my top lipsticks for the holidays and while majority of them are far from the traditional red I feel like it’s nice to step out of the traditional red and try a darker or lighter color out once in a while. 🙂 I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know if you’ve used any of these and how you felt about them, good or bad, I’d love to know your thoughts!

Are you more traditional red or try something new each year?
